History and Creation:

Lake Tomahawk provides its users a place to play, walk, swim, gather, commune and relax within a 16.3 acre parcel situated centrally in Black Mountain. The dam which creates the lake itself was constructed between 1933 and 1935. Since that time, a walking trail, numerous facilities and several structures have been situated around the lake.

The lake is fed by Tomahawk branch and spans 8.9 acres. The Lakeview Center was constructed around 1932 and renovated circa 1975 and 2010; the building is currently 5,485 square feet.

The Lakeview Center serves as an Active Aging Center and hosts a senior lunch site Monday-Friday. The Active Aging Center also offers a variety of programs daily ranging from exercise classes to bridge. The walking trail around the lake is .55 of a mile and is the most used amenity located at Lake Tomahawk. The pavilion was built circa 1993. The pool was completely redone in 2009. The tennis courts were redone in 1989.
