Summer is almost here! Get off the couch, put down the video games & let’s go skate! Black Mountain now has an alternative sport offering that’s the cure for summertime boredom. This lesson will be taught by local skateboarder, Aaron Hill, who has been a skateboarder for life.

Join Aaron this summer for Black Mountain’s first skateboarding program! Whether you see it as a hobby, sport, artform or practice, it helps instill valuable character traits and virtues such as persistence, dedication, determination, patience and problem solving. With progression, it becomes an excellent aerobic exercise that promotes a healthy lifestyle and increases endurance and stamina. It also offers the youth a nonjudgmental, positive safe space for creative play & comradery. Most importantly, it’s all about having fun!

This beginner lesson will consist of six sessions at the Carver Skatepark on Tuesdays from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. between July 21 - August 25, 2026.

Beginner lessons will be for skaters with little to no experience.

Intermediate lessons will be for skaters with some experience, and are comfortable on the board, but want to develop their skills further.

Participants will be required to bring their own board, water, helmet, and any additional protective equipment deemed necessary.
