Join Black Mountain Recreation & Parks (BMRP) for their 2026 Arm's Length Adventures Series! What began in 2020 as a way to safely get outside and enjoy the great outdoors, has continued to grow over the past six years into a staple of our outdoor programming. This year's series will feature hikes on new trails, cleanups around town, a fly fishing workshop, and a mushroom hike with Hendersonville Parks & Rec!

For this hike, we'll be travelling down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the stunning Sam Knob. This hike is relatively short but strenuous and covers a total distance of 2.5 miles. This trail also features many stairs that can be slippery when wet.

All registered participants will check-in at 8:00 a.m. at the lower parking lot at Lake Tomahawk (near the tennis courts). Once everyone is checked in, we will cover safety protocols then ride together in the BMRP van. Due to limited parking at the trailhead, this hike will start earlier and driving separately is discouraged.
