Join Black Mountain Recreation & Parks (BMRP) for their 2026 Arm's Length Adventures Series! What began in 2020 as a way to safely get outside and enjoy the great outdoors, has continued to grow over the past six years into a staple of our outdoor programming. This year's series will feature hikes on new trails, cleanups around town, a fly fishing workshop, and a mushroom hike with Hendersonville Parks & Rec!
For this hike, we'll be travelling down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the infamous Fryingpan Lookout Tower. This decommissioned fire lookout tower is located just past the Pisgah Inn and is a iconic landmark in the region. This hike will be approximately 1.5 miles long and is rated as easy to moderate in difficulty.
All registered participants will check-in at 9:00 a.m. at the lower parking lot at Lake Tomahawk (near the tennis courts). All participants will ride in the BMRP van. Due to limited parking at the trailhead, driving separately will be discouraged for this hike.
